Each year preseason favorites usually include the previous state champs, but each year those champs slowly fall by the way.

Last year Driscoll Catholic was the only return champion, as they won their 5th straight state title.

Which team, including Driscoll do you think has the best chance to repeat?

I like the way Bobby B. runs the SHG offense. As long as he is at QB, SHG gets my vote as the team most likely to repeat.

However with that being said, they may find their toughest competition from another 5A team from the South.

Brenneisen at the helm is the key factor, but the fact that they have Andre Pendergrass retruning at RB and their 3 top defensemen all back as well. Well that makes them a big front runner to repeat.

I like Lincoln-Way Easy too, they've got some talent coming back, but I think 8A & 1A are always the hardest classes to repeat in. You either have teams that can get a ton of talent out of nowhere because the schools are so big or you just happen to get those 3 or 4 guys that aren't division I studs, but just work together really well their senior year & then poof, it's gone by next year.

SHG will be very tough to beat in 5A with Brenneisen at the helm, but Driscoll has won 5 titles in a row so I would not count them out for winning number 6.

I have three - they would be Sacred Heart-Griffin, Driscoll, and Lincoln-Way East.  Three very tough teams in their classes

Don't these guys want to go on to play ball at a collegiate level, so maybe they would give it there all to be noticed.

There is also a possibility of a 7A title game rematch as Prospect and Mt.Carmel return a good amount of talent from last years squads.
