On a cool Friday night, Mahomet-Seymour was determined not to play down to their competition. Peoria Manual was in town, and they are in a transition period where the talent is not there and it shows on the field. I am not here to bash on Manual, but you have to say how it is. Mahomet had a transition period from 1999-2001, where they did not make the playoffs and did not have a winning record. Every program encounters a transitional period, but overcoming that is one of the greatest feelings in the world.
Now back to the game, Mahomet came out to a packed house where they showed their dominance early. M-S came out with a strong running attack to set the tone for the rest of the night. On their first possession, M-S scored on an Andrew Brewer run. Andrew Brewer ran well for the bulldogs, as well as the rest of posse at tailback. M-S's offensive line has been dominant in their first two games of the season, creating holes that Refrigerator Perry could run through! M-S's offensive line Coach is Keith Pogue, who has done a tremendous job getting those boys prepared for each game. A shout out also needs to go to those parents who fed those boys a great breakfast Friday morning.
The defense looked tough again, shutting down the passing game and not allowing Manual to control the clock. Manual was forced into many 3 and outs, allowing M-S to control the game, and eventually win the game.
M-S is off to good start, but stay tuned for a preview of this weeks game against rival Pontiac!
