Unfortunately I will be moving into college on the 25th of August so no football for me. I wish I moved in later because I was really looking forward to the triple header at Soldier Field. I was wondering where will some of the other people from the board be going for opening weekend?
GFB, I think I might have to put you on the payroll if you keep this up. You basically posted my next two ideas for questions on the message board.
Opening weekend, I will be at the Triple header at Solider field on Sat. I think the noon match up of Joliet Catholic vs. Mt. Carmel will pack the lower level of the stadium. And hopefully if people know what's good for them, they'll get some Connie's Pizza and stcik out the Simeon vs. Fenwick game, to see what many think is Illinois top prospect Simeon's DE Martez Wilson, and stay for the Hubbard vs. St. Rita game.
Robert Hughes, Hubbard's runningback is the truth and anothe rone of the states national ranked studs. Matt Conrath of St. Rita (6'7 235) is a beast and it will be a spectacular game. Read more about it on Monday when I post up the preseasoon Big 30 rankings & a preview of the Big Games of the 2006 season, on Tues.
As far as Friday night goes. More than likely I will be at the East Aurora vs West Aurora because I'm working on a story about rivalries.
If I was in a different part of the state though, here's where I'd be.
Chicago burbs - it's a toss up between Alleman at Driscoll, Prospect at Downers North or East ST. Louis at Lincoln-way Central
Northern Illinois - Morgan Park at Carmel or Boylan at Freeport.
Western Illinois - Bolingbrook at Rock Island HS
Central Iiilnois - Montini at S.H.G. or Petersburg (PORTA) at Elmwood-Brimfield
Southern Illinois - Mt. carmel vs. Harrisburg or Troy at Belleville Althoff
Anybody else know of a good Eastern Illiinois match up, throw it out there. Or feel free to name the several other good suburban match up that are going on Friday & Saturday.

Somebody has to cover the entire state.
I was considering going to the East/West game since I am an East Alum, played there, still live here and coached several of the players when they were younger, but I seem to be drawn to the North/Nequa game because of it's impact in Naperville, however if you need some help contacting some guys that played prior to '89 I may be of some help.
Just let me know, Thanks.

Just like you, GFB, I'll be moving into college on the 25th, so unfortunately, I can't attend any games that weekend. I really wanted to see my old school, Oak Lawn Community, lay a beating on Gage Park like they did last year. Oh well, an education is more important and I'll check the results on Saturday.
