Cahokia's Storm Damaged Field

From the Belleville News Democrat:

CAHOKIA - The Alton-Cahokia football game originally scheduled to be played Friday in Cahokia has been moved to a 7 p.m. start Saturday at Public School Stadium in Alton.

Cahokia Athletic Director Roscoe Dowell said storm damage to the press box and electrical system is still being repaired and caused the game to be moved to Alton.

After being forced to travel because of storm damage to their home stadium, Cahokia laid an egg on the road.

7A Alton shut out highly ranked 5A Cahokia until the final minute of the game. The final score was 20-8.

In week 1, Cahokia won by forfeit.

Cahokia travels again this week -- five hours to Gary, IN.

Their home stadium, (a few miles east of St. Louis, MO) is expected to be repaired in time for their next home game, mid-month.

That's a tough start to their season, especially after a fair bit of pre-season attention.

Does anyone know how forfeits figure into playoff wins? Is a win a win?

To the best of my knowledge, a win is a win. It will come into play in the playoff points part of being ranked for the playoffs.

Each win an opponent you have gets, adds to the playoff point total. There for a team that forfeits all of their games, would bring no playoff points to the table. A second tie breaker playoff point is made up of the wins of the teams that you have beat.

Basically if you go 9-0 & every team youplayed went 8-1 you could get 72 playoff points, and 72 secondary playoff points.

If you went 8-1 and every team you played went 8-1 you could get 72 playoff points & 64 secondary playoff points.

This stops teams from playing nothing but weak teams and going 9-0 and stealing a top seed.
