Somebody has to cover the entire state.
I will Be in Vandalia Illinois!...Watching the Hillsboro Hiltoppers kick some vandal butt...the toppers look to continue there undefeated season being 4-0 at the moment!
Oswego vs Plainfield South, both enter undefeated in the game that could decide the inaugural Southwest Prarie conference champ, and could very well lead to an undefeated regular season for both.
thursday I may attend the Barrington/Fremd game, I want to see the Anderson kid in person (so I can finally put the Hughes, Martin, Dierking, Anderson question to rest), plus see if Barrington is deserving of its lofty ranking (they usually arent), and see if Fremd is getting the shaft after beating Prospect (they usually arent getting the shaft, just not that good).
Friday I'll be at the lovely Homewood-Floosmore campus (one of my favorite venues, really) to watch my Raiders seperate themselves, once again, from teams that are just good... Look for BIG things from The Brook in 06.
I've seen Alton pull off an upset before. I think it can be done as well, but I also think that ESL & Edwardsville are two of the best teams in the south and Alton will need to upset two teams if they really want to establish themselves as the team to beat in 2006.
But even if that happens, it's a dead point if they don't put up in the post season. Do you think Alton is having a year that would send them deep into the playoffs or are you juststill hoping at this time? You can always answer yes to both.

Hebron, IL, watching the undefeated (4-0) Alden-Hebron Giants (1A) take on another bigger school (every school is larger in enrollment when you're Hebron!).
Hebron only lost to the the eventual state champs, Freeport (Aquin) in 2005, and the Giants team this year is better than they were last year. Fun to watch...
PS - Anyone have lights for sale? We need 'em for these home Friday games.

I seen Alton and Edwardsville play in person; however, I have not seen East side play yet. I have been told that East side have been running up the score the past two week, which they did last year in the SWC. For Alton, I like how Hook is letting Lacey use his arm more lately (within the last two weeks), especially against Belleville East; however, when I saw them play Cahokia, their offense was very predictable and Cahokia was without their star running back that week For Edwardsville, the Tigers are very young in the secondary, which could spell bad news for them when they play East side. I don't believe Alton will beat East side, but they are very capable of pulling off the upset because East side lacks the depth. The key of the game will be the play of Lacey. Honestly, Alton has the tools to surprise people in the playoffs, but they didn't impressed me against Cahokia so take it how you want to take it. The Alton Telegraph did a preseaon poll for the SWC and they predicted East side (first), Alton (second), and Edwardsville (Third). Furtermore, Edwardsville win-loss records of their first 5 opponents are 3-17 so I still have questions if the Tigers are the top team in the south.
Wanted to go to the LZ-ZB game, but work forced me to do otherwise. LZ should get a confidence booster as they face the winless Z-Bees and hopefully the offense and the kicking game will step it up a bit as they have away games at Antioch HS and Lake Forest HS coming up. The Lake Forest game should be a good one because that will heavily influence the NSC Lake race.
You would be hard pressed to find 2 better teams playing in this state that Chatham Glenwood V. Springfield SHG this week. I am interested in other match ups as I think we will have another state Champ come from the Central State 8 and its not SHG.
