Congratulations to the Giants for their undefeated regular season! Good luck in the playoffs; let's get rid of that word "regular".

from the southwestern conference and metro st. louis area, i could only get 2 scores so far.  the online scores usually available by this time are slow coming in.  these scores i got from ksdk television.

East St. Louis 56, Belleville East 21.   east st. louis finishes at 9-0 and probably gets a              number 2 seeding for the playoffs.  belleville east is eliminated at 4-5.

Edwardsville 24, O'Fallon 0.  edwardsville finishes at 7-2, o'fallon at 5-4.  both should be in the playoffs.

with the IHSA's convoluted method of seedings and pairings favoring upstate teams in classes 7 and 8 (with the 150 mile rule), i wouldn't doubt if east st. louis is paired against o'fallon.  it will be interesting to see what happens with alton (an excellent squad that probably went 8-1 aganst collinsville tonight) and edwardsville (always good and tough) at 7-2.

if i get the other southwestern conference scores tonight, i'll post them.  belleville west was at granite city and collinsville was at alton at public school stadium.

With Edwardsville, Ofallon, Alton & East St. Louis all in 7A, I can image them being seeded in the same 1-16 bracket, but I wouldn't think that the IHSA would pair them up in the first round unless their records & playoff points dictated so.

i hope you're right about those pairings, vincent!!  i just hate to see the four southwestern conference teams re-play each other in the first round.  it would be great to see some teams from other conferences outside the area paired against them.

here are some other scores.

Belleville West (2-7) 38, Granite City (1-8) 31

Alton (8-1) 41, Collinsville (2-7) 7

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin (9-0) 38, Cahokia (6-3) 8.

Carmel-37

Joliet Catholic-29

Carmel shows their offensive talent once again as they upset Joliet Catholic and force them to share the the conference championship with st. Viator. Carmel is a force to be reckoned with and it is to bad they lost to Nazareth becuase this is defenitely a special year and it should have been an undefeited one. They should do good in the playoffs and I am interested to see who they are matched up against first round
