Alright all you people who claim to be high school football fans. Did you watch the games yesterday or did you go shopping with the family?
What did you think? What game was the best? What team surprised you? Who will you be watching next season? What game are you looking forward to today?
I think with out a doubt the Plano / SJO game was the best yesterday and may go down as the best game of the weekend. So if you switched it off early, man did you miss out.
I'll be watching Tuscola's QB John Wienke (6'4 207 jr.). Add Westville's Caleb Pratt (RB 6' 175 jr.), someone I had seen earlier in the season and am glad I got a second look at.
As far as game breakers, I'm surprised that SJO's Luke Graves (WR/DB 5'7 135 jr.) gives every undersized kid a reason to stick with football.

Somebody has to cover the entire state.
Wienke and Hines were very good Qb's, I think most teams in the state would have loved to have the two on there team. Wienke has great size and a great arm. Could he possibly be a division 1 or 1AA prospect?
I think being a D-1 prospect sometimes just has to do with coaches that have a need for that type of player and actually see or have a scout see that person play.
I know Ron Zook and his staff were there for all 8 games, so who knows.
And being D-1 A isn't always that important. Look at Tony Romo or the scores of kids that went to JCs before going D1.

I couldn't watch the games -- I had to work both days and had to rely on periodic 'net checks to see what was happening. Oh well -- at least the internet was here!
Looking forward to next season and the back-and-forth dialogue again. It was a lot of fun tracking so many teams' seasons and getting views from across the state. Thanks to ihsfw and all the posters for enhancing the season!
Congratulations to the champions and to those who finished their seasons with honor, win or lose.

Point well taken as Romo is a prime example as of now. I would add that you don't even need to be a top level division 1A prospect to succeed at the NFL level. Just look at starting QB's from mid level D1 schools = McNabb (Syracuse), Roethlisberger (Miami Ohio), Kitna (Central Washington), Pennington (Marshall), Leftwich (Marshall), Frye (Akron), Losman (Tulane), McNair (Alcorn State), Gradkowski (Toledo), Delhomme (Louisiana-Lafayette) and Cutler (Vanderbilt), also Jeff Garica (San Jose State).
