Its kind of funny how they picked Brother Rice to finish fourth in the CCL Blue but then have them ranked 12th overall. There logic there doesnt make sense to me, but Rice is a very good program and should have a nice season.
I don't think that Lemont is quite at the level of beng ranked 13th. Nagel is a good player, but Im not sure how much he will be able to do being keyed upon every game.
I think that Lyons is a suprise in the polls. I think 16th may be a little high to start the year considering the tough conference that they play in. Lyons has tough games against Sandburg, Hinsdale South, Oak Park-River Forest, York, Downers Grove North, and Hinsdale Central. If Lyons can win atleast 3 of those games they should be in great shape come playoff time.
Im a little disapointed that Morris is at 24, since preseason rankings are mostly based on reputation anyways I would think that they deserve to be rated atleast in the 10-15 range. Morris will reload and be ready for this season.
I would also have thrown Carmel ahead of St.Rita nd Hubbard.
Nice to see the Sun Times giving the Interstate 8 some pub. Plano picked to win the small side of the conference. Reed Custer the big. Should be a great season!!!
The Sun-Times said that Richards and Oak Lawn should battle for the title. Just like two years ago in the old SICA Orange conference, this will be a good year for both teams. Both teams will have their challenges (Oak Lawn vs. Lemont; Richards vs. Lemont and Morgan Park) but they are both looking forward towards facing each other on October 13th.
I finally got a chance to read in depth the Sun Times season preview from last week. I think if you go through and analyse it you'll see a few inconsistensies. First of which certain teams that are in the top 25 are not picked as the favorites to win their conferences and the teams that are are not ranked in the top 25.
I know we all make small errors and the rankings process is a long one, but it seems like there may have been a break down in the commincations between the Sun Times and the writers they use to cover each conference.
Mind you I have the utmost respect for the Sun Times & their staff. Those guys know their stuff and it is by far the best source for football news in the Chicago area, but it's things like that which is why I started this site back in 1999.
I will say, a big benefit to the internet is the fact that I can always go back after the published date.
