Saw the pictures and the write up. Very nice pictures and good article. What'd you think of the game? I was very impressed with Sterling. I thought Kaneland should have put the game away after they scored to make it 21-7, but like any good team Sterling came back. Then I thought Kaneland should have put it away when it was 30-17 at the end of the 3rd, but like any good team Sterling came back again! Was a great game with a great finish and I'm glad I was there to witness it.
Great game Sterling and good luck to Kaneland against Woodstock
It was actually the second time I'd seen Kaneland this year (there was no write up for the Geneva/Kaneland game because I lost the roster running onto the field to get celebration photos) and I definitely think they've improved just over teh last three weeks. I also seen teh Knight in last years 2nd round loss to Lemont & will say I thought they'd be better, but I didn't see a semifinal appearence coming.
Kaneland has a damn good size line for a 5A school. It reminds me of Alleman's front 5 last year, but maybe a little smaller. My rough math has them averaging 6'1 235 lbs. I think if those boys can keep the pressure off of Thorgensen, he'll just need to stop trying to force some balls where they shouldn't be. I'm not sure if I got this correct, but from my game notes it looks like Joe Schneiderbauer from Sterling had 3 INTs. Now either that kid was a ball hawk stud or there were some balls thrown where the shouldn't have been.
If Casey Crosby keeps up his performance it will be tough for any 5A team to stop these guys. I like the fact that they can put up points, but Sterling out hussled those kids late in that game, which is why I think Joe Thorgensen (Kaneland's head coach) didn't act to upset that his boys blew that big of a lead. And I think that says a lot about how good Sterling was.
